- Georgia Download Destination - This site contains e-book and digital audiobook content purchased by member libraries - a list of member libraries is available on the site. A library card from a member library is required for use. You will have to download and install a small piece of free software to be able to download e-books or digital audio books.
- InkMesh - Searches more than 30 online sources for free e-books - search by title or author.
- Project Gutenberg - More than 33,000 free e-books that work with most e-readers that are mostly classics that are in the public domain, No registration is required.
- Baen Books - Baen publishes science fiction and fantasy and some are available as free downloads. New content added monthly.
- The Online Books Page - The University of Pennsylvania Libraries indexes materials freely available on the internet. Formats and downloading requirements will vary by site.
- eBookFling - This site is for sharing your own e-books that you have purchased with other e-book users. For each book you share you get credits for borrowing. Note that items borrowed through library sites are not your property and cannot be shared.
- Smashwords - Smashwords provides an ebook publishing platform for independent authors and publishers that want a large degree of control over how their books are sold and marketed. Free and pay books are available in a wide variety of genres and ebook formats with no DRM (Digital Rights Management) attached. Registration is needed for purchasing and other benefits but is free.

- Teleread - News and views on e-books, libraries, publishing and related topics.
